BTTS stands for Both Teams to Score. It is a popular betting market in modern sports gambling. Punters are forever in a quest to expand their sporting knowledge and their know-how of gambling itself. They have new angles from which to look at sporting events, and try to predict many more types of outcomes . Bookmakers, on their part, must respond to the needs of their clients. They do this by trying their best to ensure punters never lack betting options. They must do this or risk falling behind other bookies in the market. Thus, the sports gambling industry is in a perpetual state of evolution. From a time when the moneyline was the staple of the sports gambling industry, there are a lot more, additional betting markets now. This is what has given birth to betting markets such as BTTS. No longer does anybody have to consider sports betting purely from a moneyline or who-wins perspective. Newer markets like BTTS, Correct Score, Total Goals etc. are here to make betting more fun, easier and, for savvy bettors, more profitable!

How BTTS (Both Teams To Score) Works

A BTTS or Both Teams to Score bet is exactly as it sounds. It is a bet where the punter predicts whether both competing teams will put the ball into the back of the net. Soccer is the most popular sport for this betting market. And given that as a sport the object of soccer is to score goals, it makes sense that this bet would be a favorite among soccer punters. It doesn’t matter who wins the game. That would be a concern in other types of bet e.g. the moneyline (1X2) bet or Double Chance. It also doesn’t matter how many goals are scored, or what the final scoreline of the match is. When it comes to BTTS, the game can end 1-1, 2-1, 5-4, 3-3, etc. and it wouldn’t affect how the bet is settled. The only thing that is of significance is whether or not both of the teams competing were able to score. Therefore, all the example scorelines given above would all result in a winning bet. However, any scoreline with a “0” in it for either side would lose. Such scorelines as 0-0, 1-0, 0-2, and even high ones like 5-0 or 6-0 would therefore result in a loss.

Best Betting Situations For BTTS

Here are some scenarios where a BTTS bet would be most prudent (and profitable) to use:

1) Top Team vs. Top Team

Top teams in soccer are known for their offensive capabilities. That means they typically score plenty of goals. When two strong teams face off against each other, therefore, the likelihood is that they’ll both find the back of the net. Good examples from the Bundesliga include such ties as: Bayern Munich vs. Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig vs. Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen vs. Monchengladbach etc.

2) Top Team vs. Offensive Minded Underdog

Sometimes a perceived “weaker” team can be poor defensively but strong in an attacking sense. They might have, for instance, good strikers. So in a tie against a strong team, while no one would bet on the weaker team winning, there’s a good chance that they score. A good example is Leeds United in the 20/21 English Premier League. In such a situation, a BTTS bet is not only suitable but likely a good, value bet. That’s because most of the time the bookie will underestimate the underdog’s ability to score, and therefore give high odds.
